How to Make the Most of a Trip to Leeds

A thriving UK city, Leeds offers plenty of attractions to the average tourist. Of course, holidays aren’t all about excitement and activity – sometimes you need to put your feet up too. So, how can you make the most of a trip to Leeds whilst getting the ‘R and R’ you need.

Shopping

The ultimate relaxation activity, shopping in Leeds has plenty of benefits. The first thing you should note is the variety which is on offer – not just in terms of the shops but the shopping centres too. Many of the older buildings boast impressive architectural features which date back to Victorian times and the Victoria Quarter actually contains Grade II listed features.

These centres are best known for their high-street and designer stores but those after a more intimate shopping experience can take advantage of the local markets found in the city. This is a great way to immerse yourself in the local community and enjoy a relaxing stroll around the city; catching a glimpse of all its impressive sights along the way.

Nightlife

Alongside your usual tourist attractions and activities, visitors to Leeds will undoubtedly want to sample the legendary nightlife. There’s a great selection of venues and bars for you to choose from so you don’t need to worry about finding something you enjoy.

The O2 Academy hosts a regular selection of top performances from leading artists and acts covering a range of genres while venues such as Mojo are known for their distinctive rock vibes. Comedy clubs and other entertainment venues are also in large supply so if musical performances don’t hit the right chord then there is sure to be something that will.

Travel

Another great way to make the most of your trip to Leeds is to waste as little time and energy as possible on the travel. Driving to Leeds may be relatively straightforward (depending on where you’re travelling from) but option to travel by train with companies such as East Coast offers plenty of benefits. 

To begin with, you’ll get a more direct route and won’t have to worry about navigating the journey yourself. Other benefits include the heightened comfort and convenience of the service as well as the affordable Leeds train fares which you can buy.
