With the holidays around the corner, here are a few of my favorite holiday destinations in North America… just to give you some ideas if the in-laws are getting to be too much!

California Sun

If you are traveling with your family you should consider California. You can go to SeaWorld, Disneyland, Knottā€™s Berry Farm, Universal Studios and Magic Mountain. Rent a car and drive up the coast. Highway one will take you to the Redwood National Park. You and your family will marvel at the majestic trees which are hundreds of years old. Head over to San Francisco and visit Alcatraz and Golden Gate Park. You can even visit one of the most famous chocolate factories in the world.

Las Vegas Sin

Another top North American holiday destination is Las Vegas. Even if you are with the family you will still enjoy the city that never sleeps. There are cheap international flights that travel to Vegas every day. You can stay at one of the fabulous hotels on the strip. Your kids can swim or play arcade games while you and your partner try your hand at some adult games.

Canada’s Beauty and Culture

Canada is another fabulous North American holiday destination and if you like winter sports you will love it. Grab cheap international flights and zip over to Whistler which is one of the best resorts in the world. If you do travel to Canada you have got to see Niagara Falls. Behind the Falls and Maid of the Mist are the two tours that you cannot miss. Even if you are not going on a honeymoon Niagara Falls has got to be on your list. Stay in a local hotel or book a quaint bed and breakfast. It is close to the airport so you can take advantage of cheap flights.

Many Canadian cities like Quebec, Vancouver and Alberta are beautiful around the holidays. If you’re in Alberta, be sure to make a stop at the Medalta Historic Clay District in Medicine Hat for a taste of true Canadian culture and history.

If you have got the time you should rent a car and drive across the US or Canada. Travel along the freeways and see what these countries really look like. Stop at every local dive for breakfast and get a real feel of North America. There is nothing better than starting out in New York and ending up in California, or driving from Vancouver to Toronto. It really is worth the time. Both trips take about 5 days, but if you find a cheap international flight you can do it in 5 hours.
