The Life of a Kiva Fellow in Guatemala – Trekking Terraces to Visit a Borrower

Foto Friday is back and better than ever! Actually, I just added a “z” at the end of “Foto” to make it seem cool. What do you think? Impressed?

I figured, one photo on Friday was just a tease, so I added a “z” and vow to bring you multiple photos every Friday to distract you from work for a little while.

Okay, take a minute to get over that big announcement and let me tell you about these lovely little shots.

I arrived in Guatemala a month ago and have been working with a local microfinance institution as a Kiva Fellow. The organization that I’m working with is a new Kiva partner, so I’ve had the opportunity to help train their staff and work to develop their borrower loan profile. One of my principle tasks has been to visit local businesses who are receiving Kiva loans to collect information and explain how Kiva works. I’ve had the chance to visit 24 different business owners in the past four weeks and it has been nothing short of amazing.

The greatest aspect of this process has been venturing into the different towns and villages to track down the borrowers.

Here are a few photos from our expeditions thus far. Enjoy Responsibly.
