Mayan ruins at the door

Not far from the city centre, visitors to Tulum can also admire the unique Mayan ruins, which are situated directly on the sea. In addition to the famous “Temple of the Winds” (Templo del Dios del Viento), “Rising down God’s Temple” (El Castillo) and the “Temple of the frescos” (Templo de los fresco), there are many other ruins to admire, not only because of their history but because they are very interesting. Central Tulum

Little away from the tourist zone (about 5 miles) is the city centre of Tulum, offering some of the main long streets for strolling, shopping and dining. Authentic Mexican food such as tacos, quesadillas and tortas can be enjoyed in all possible variations in the many small side streets at unbeatable prices. In the evening, thanks to some bars and restaurants, the centre is lively and safe. If you are not staying in the centre of Tulum, you can visit central Tulum anytime of the day or night with the countless small shuttle buses or taxi, conveniently located in the hotel zones.

Action in the environment

Those who book holiday to Tulum, are not far from the centre of the Riviera Maya, a stretch of coastline that runs from Cancun to Tulum. In this section, countless theme parks have been created, offering everything what action-happy tourists or families can only wish for. These include giant water slides, swimming with dolphins, rope courses, or snorkel with colourful fish – everything is available for an action packed adventure. Those who are not so touristy minded, can discover incredible underwater worlds in the many cenotes (former caves, which are filled with fresh water), or snorkel directly at the ruins with fishes and tortoises.

Tulum – always worth the journey

Tulum offers a lot more than you might think, and is an ideal solution for those who prefer something else rather than the normal tourist hotspots. Whoever was once on the beach in Tulum, who has enjoyed views of ruins in the early morning, or has woken up in one of the countless small Cabañas (beach huts), will definitely know that there is also a piece of paradise on earth.
