Las Vegas is one of the most popular tourist destination in the world, and rightfully so. The shows, parties, buffets and attractions are absolutely incredible and the city proves time and time again why they attract such big crowds.

What happens when you want to escape the crowds though? What happens when you want a local experience in Las Vegas? Is it possible?

Absolutely. Here are a few tips to help you do so.

Skip the Strip

There are so many things to do on the Las Vegas Strip that it can be hard to pull yourself away, but if you want to experience Las Vegas on a budget and explore some of the local hotspots, you must escape!

Instead, head over to Freemont Street in “Old Vegas” where the gambling is twice as cheap and ten times as friendly. Head over to one of Las Vegas’ original gambling casinos at the Golden Nugget and enjoy Shrimp cocktails for $99 and dealers who will help you hit vs. stay on the blackjack table

Avoid the Slots

Table games are known to give you better odds and also a great place to meet locals. When you have your head neck deep in a slot machine you miss all the greatness of Las Vegas and you tend to lose your money much faster.

When I go to Vegas, I only play Craps because it’s a team game that gets everybody involved and rooting for each other. It looks intimidating at first sight, but if you ask a local to help you, you’ll pick up the basics in no time. It might also be a good idea to get a bit of practice in online before you go too.

Stay and Save

One of the best things about Las Vegas is the cheap hotel deals offered all year round. You can save a ton of money on accommodations to spend on the casino floor if you are smart about it.

Shop around on different travel sites and even call the hotels you wish to stay at directly to see if they have any deals available for the time you wish to go.

Despite what people think about all the glitz and glamour of the Sin City, if you find yourself a local table and a local watering hole you can do Vegas very cheap and preferably authentic.

The best way to travel is like a local and Las Vegas is no different! Good Luck.
