This summer, weddings, business projects and a Travel Bloggers Conference will keep me tied up in North America until October. I figured this was the perfect opportunity to explore some of the wonderment I’ve yet to experience right here in the great US of A (and Canada).
The first leg of my so-called “Road Trip” is already in full swing and shown on the high-tech google map I put together above.
The first part of “The Great American Road Trip*” itinerary is as follows…
Buffalo, NY > Tucson, AZ > San Francisco, CA > San Jose, CA > Park City, UT > Seattle, WA > Vancouver, BC > ? > Park City, UT > Rochester, NY
*I’ll be flying a lot and then taking the train up from Seattle to Vancouver, so we’ll use “road trip” loosely.
I don’t know exactly what’s on the agenda after the conference wraps on June 13th (hence the “?”) but I’d love to checkout the Pacific Northwest like Portland and Seattle or maybe cruise on over to the Glacier National Park in Montana. Also, I have a new nephew coming into this world in Chicago within the next few weeks so I want to introduce myself at some point before heading back to Park City for a wedding on July 20th.
The big question after Vancouver is transportation. I definitely can’t afford to fly around the country, hitchhiking would take too long and I don’t own a car (sold it for a ticket to Buenos Aires) so I have to figure something out.
In an ideal world I’d have a motorcycle, really long hair and look sweet in leather pants and just cruise from city to city getting into bar fights and running through fields with farmer’s daughters. The only problem so far is finding a sponsor who wants to fund me a bike, lessons and hair extensions for the adventure. Also, I would need to purchase some type of travel insurance, Ideas?
On a serious note, I’d love to take a philanthropic angle somehow and raise some money for GVRC, a summer camp for special needs kids I work at every summer.
I’m still figuring out all the details so any advice, suggestions, connections or comments along the way would be great. I’m also working on the list, so if you have American must-dos, please don’t be shy.

We just visited Savannah, Georgia and it’s wonderful! There’s a beautiful historic centre with elegant mansions, huge old oak trees dripping with moss, and the people are super friendly. We had amazing home cooked style southern cuisine at Mrs Wilkes Boarding House. You should go!
Now you just need to find yourself a bike/car!
Oh I love Savannah! My dad used to live down in Peach Tree City so we’d go down a lot. I can’t wait to hear your southern twang in a few weeks!
That sounds like an epic trip. i wish to do the same in a few years time 🙂
At the rate you two are going I’m sure you will!
Not coming to MA? You’re welcome to come check out Boston! I’ll show you all around…
