I haven’t done a STATUS UPDATE in awhile so I feel like I should take a minute to get myself organized and briefly fill everyone in on progress of the Tourist2townie.com mission.

It seems crazy to be writing this 4 and a half months in. It honestly feels like i’ve been here for 2 weeks. With so much stuff I still want to do and see, the key word has definitely beenĀ overwhelmed.

Overwhelmed that I still have awkward lost in translation moments everyday. Overwhelmed that I don’t have the time or money to travel everywhere I want to go here in Argentina (and outside). And overwhelmed at the fact that there is so much I want to add to this site it’s ridiculous.

BRIEF RECAP

SPANISH: I feel like I have hit a wall with my Spanish after the 2-week intensive class at BASP. So much information was absorbed that I need to find the time to study it all and practice using it.

MONEY: I have been bartending 6 nights a week so that has drained me a bit but it also has helped me get close with all my co-workers, practice my Spanish almost everyday and learn the ways of the bar/restaurant very fast.Ā Starting this week I’m cutting down to 4 nights a week at the bar to work on the website, travel more, and keep finding new ways to make money. I have also been working on ideas to put my marketing experience into play. Over the next few weeks I am work on projects with BASP and Polo Elite.

SOCIAL: Although I have only had 1 free night throughout the most of January and February I have been able to make the best of it. I try to check out at least one new club, lounge and/or restaurant every week. Don’t get me wrong I also get a lot of social interaction at the bar.Ā Friends have been great and women have been incredible.

PHYSICAL: A few weeks ago I started running and exercising everyday but with the Spanish classes and the recent hospital visits that has been put on hold. I feel very skinny and weak. I don’t eat very often because there is so much other stuff I want to do. I usually get a big meal at work but it’s either a pizza or some type of meat with french fries.

MENTAL: Overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious and thankful.

T2t WEBSITE: When my spanish is doing good the website struggles and visa versa. A really great thing about the site however is that I have gotten to meet a lot of really cool people who have read Tourist2townie.com before they came to Buenos Aires. Over the past few weeks I’ve met a women from South Africa, a couple from Scotland and Poland and a group girls from Boston. They all came into Buller to say hello, how cool is that!

OVERALL: I need to find a balance between the website, job, Spanish, travel and social life. I have been able to combine a few but the big thing would be to combine the website with making money.

Although everything has been really overwelming I have definitely taken time out to step back and realize how great everything is. I couldn’t ask for a better group of friends and my birthday celebration was awesome.

I’m starting to realize more and more that learning Spanish, like running this site, is all about persistence and perseverance. I just can’t stop.
