4 Tips for Turning Up Your Tailgate

I am a life-long Buffalo fan, and this past Sunday, I ventured over to the Stadium to watch my new-look team take on their arch-rival.

Despite the final score favoring the boys from Bean Town, we dominated the tailgate. Sure, we haven’t made the playoffs in over a decade, but we have been consistently ranked as one of the league leaders in tailgating every year.

That’s because us Buffalo natives know how to turn up our tailgates, and as a pre-game MVP myself, I wanted to share five tips to making your tailgate championship worthy.

Assemble the Crew

There’s an art to football tailgating, and it’s not to be shared with just anyone. You have to be selective on who you bring into this glorious experience in order to ensure maximum possible positive energy levels.

You don’t realize how important this is until you bring along your one buddy who really doesn’t care about the football or the festivities. He will be a thorn in your awesomeness and should be left at home.

Mark Your Territory

Tailgating 101 will tell you to get there early, to establish your position within the parking lot. My friends and I always claim a back corner spot so that other people don’t surround us, and we have easy access to the bathrooms. Mark your territory with a umbrella or tent so that you can always find your spot after the party escalates!

Never Too Much Meat

This is a very simple tip. Bring more meat than you think you will need. Not only will you eat more after the game, but you can also use your meaty supply to barter with other parties around you… Bratwursts: Supreme currency for tailgaters.

Elevate Your Libations

I’ve seen too many people go to the games with a cooler filled with boring beer. It’s not creative, it’s not exciting and it does nothing for your parking lot legacy.

For example, this past Sunday, we added a few bottles of Andre Champagne to our arsenal, which completely changed the parking lot party scene.

Not only did the Andre Brut go perfectly with orange juice and eggs, but we also brought a bottle of Andre’s Pink Moscato, which was a huge hit with the allusive lady tailgaters!

Music was rocking and footballs were flying as we prepared to get #EpicWithAndre Sunday in Buffalo… if our tailgating has any indication of the season’s success… we better start saving up for playoff tickets!
