The teams, locations, dates and times have been set for the opening group matches at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil this summer.

World Cup 2014 Dates: June 12, 2014 – July 14, 2014

Brazil 2014 Host Cities (12): Sao Paulo, Natal, Fortaleza, Manaus, Brasilia, Recife, Salvador, Cuiaba, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Belo Horizante and Rio de Janeiro.

Opening Match: Brazil vs. Croatia in Sao Paulo on June 12th, 2014

My goal is to work for the World Cup in Brazil somehow and find a way to see as many matches as possible while maintaining a home base in Rio de Janeiro. I would love to see matches in Recife, Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo (as well as Rio) to get a different perspective on climates, fans and atmosphere in unique regions around the country.

I have no idea how I’m going to do this yet, but where there’s a will, there’s a way. I haven’t bought any tickets yet.

Now is your chance to start comparing prices and book a flight to Brazil for the World Cup because prices are only going to increase from here. For those fans making the trip over, try flights to Brazil with Netflights to begin your search for cheap flights to Brazil.

I think Argentina, Belgium and France will walk through their groups.

What are your predictions? Who will win the World Cup? Who will win the Alternative World Cup?

  1. See you there Gareth!

I’ll be starting my South American backpacking journey in Salvador in mid-May and will be making my way down to Sao Paulo & Rio at the beginning of June. I’d love to meet you and hear about your experiences in Brasil.
