The Whitsunday Islands

Whitsunday Islands - Hill Inlet
Table of Contents

The Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia is home to the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. From the famous Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet, to Daydream Island and the village of Airlie Beach, it was absolute paradise, and the most incredible tropical landscape I experienced while traveling through Australia – which is no easy task considering the abundance of amazing beaches around the country.

In total, I spent eight days in and around the islands, with six nights in Airlie Beach and another two on Daydream Island.

The trip included two commercial boat excursions (Ocean Rafting and Camira Sailing), one private boat charter, one Seabob ride, one skydive, and countless wallabies, cockatoos, and secluded beaches.

If the video doesn’t already tell you… I would do it all over again in a heartbeat, and I highly recommend you doing the same.

Until then, here’s a few parting shots…

Whitsunday Islands - Hill Inlet

The famous Hill Inlet in the Whitsundays is a stunning inlet located at the northern end of Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island (the largest of the 74 islands). As the tide shifts, low tide brings out the incredible white sand and blue and green hues of the inlet, which makes for a stunning scene. I captured this photo with my drone… I am the tiny black dot at the very bottom middle of the photo.

Whitsunday Islands - Whitehaven Beach

The most pristine water I have ever witnessed was found at Whitehaven Beach. If you look closely, you can actually see the shadows of a school of fish swim by.

Unreal.

whitsunday islands - daydream island

Capturing sunrise from our room on the magical Daydream Island. With wallabies grazing in the grass to hammocks calling our name, this place lives up to its name.

Happy Hour at the hotel pool in Airlie Beach.

Whitsunday Islands - Airlie Beach

Tents setup along the beach during the market in Airlie Beach. This was one of the highlights of the trip, but I just couldn’t fit it into the video. We walked around sampling dumplings, tacos and the most delicious Bowen mango smoothie on a perfect little Saturday morning.

Whitsunday Islands - Night Sky

The night sky around the islands was absolutely insane. This photo was taken too early, but on most nights we got a clear shot of the milky way.

A special thanks to the Whitsunday Tourism Office and Daydream Island for putting this entire trip together.
